'Only in California: Weird and Wonderful Facts About The Golden State' by Heather Alexander with illustrations by Jen Taylor is a great overview of California full of information.
Each full double page features an area of the state like the desert, San Francisco. There are also pages featuring native animals, famous people from California, inventions created in the state, and more.
The art is what drew me in. The bursts of facts are interesting. The state's many different places get pretty good coverage. This would be a nice gift for a young reader travelling to the state or just interested in learning things.
