review:
'Piranesi' by Susanna Clarke is the author's second full length book and my book club's pick for June.
A man named Piranesi traverses a large house with rooms full of statues. The bottom floor is water, the top is air, mist and rain. He survives with what the house gives him, and what The Other brings. He writes enigmatic journal entries, and slowly we learn what has happened.
I loved the author's first book, and this one as well. It's a slow burn but rewards the patient reader (give the book about half before you toss it at the wall in frustration) with a story of intrigue and the horrific mystery of how he came to be in this labyrinthine house.
