'Ida's Witness' with story and art by Karl Beckstrand is a story from the author's family.
In the 1880s, Ida lives in Sweden with her family. Scarlet fever causes her to almost lose her sight. Through her close calls, she comes in touch with faith and a larger meaning. Her faith leads her to America, even though she doesn't speak the language.
I liked this personal family story from another era. The illustrations are also nice.
