A young seaman performs a cowardly act, then is left to his fate in court. The book follows his attempt to come to terms with bad decisions he has made.

Jim is a tough character to like, but it could be because I see myself in him a little bit. It's also hard not to compare this book to Conrad's "Heart of Darkness." I like 'Heart of Darkness' better, but there are things here that I really liked.
