review:
'Warship Jolly Roger Vol. 2: Revenge' by Sylvain Runberg with art by Miquel Montllo picks up right after volume 1. The problem is that it had been a while since I'd reviewed the first one, so things had to come back to me.
The crew has escaped, but not really. Lifechanging physical and mental events have changed the crew. Captain Munro vows revenge, while the rest of his small crew tries to pull themselves together. Meanwhile, Vexton is on course to become a galactic president and marry a beautiful movie star. With Vexton in his sights, Munro will do whatever it takes to kill him. This leads him blind to the traitor in his midst.
I remember liking the first volume, but this one left me a bit colder. The art is still really good and the book includes background paintings and character ideas. The story felt more cynical this time around, but I still basically liked it.
I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Lion Forge, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this graphic novel.
