A solid finish to a really interesting young adult trilogy (Chaos Walking).



The book starts off right where the second book ends, and puts the reader right in the middle of the war between the Mayor and the Spackle (the human name for the indigenous alien population). Young Todd is caught in the middle. His girlfriend Viola is with the women and a new voice is introduced in the book, one of the escaped aliens who only wants revenge.



Morally ambiguous, with perspective shifting between the three narrators, views are given for every perspective. War can make 'Monsters Of Men' and what are we to do with that? Is revenge to be had at the cost of a society? When your loved ones are in mortal danger, how far is it okay to go to protect them?

A wonderful book of short essays displaying the elegance of math in a grand and easily digestible format. This book started life as a series of columns in the New York Times as an introduction to and has been expanded on a bit. Each chapter is the length of a typical column, and while the book is by no means comprehensive, there are copious notes and reading lists in the back should one want to explore topics further.



The book starts with basics like numbers and addition and continues right on to infinity. Filled with history, anecdotes and *gasp* how we actually use each type of math in our daily lives, the book is written in a very comfortable style. Filled with humor and the joy of learning, I found it refreshing and inviting to it's approach.

This is simply a fun series so far. I like the addition of Michael as a partner ("The Fist Of God") to Harry in this book. It adds some great banter between them. This book also sets up events for further down the series.



If you like noir thrillers and urban fantasy, I don't think you can find a better series than this one.

Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption

A phenomenal book that tells the incredible true story of Louis Zamperini. From his early days as a delinquent, to his days as an Olympic athlete, to dark days of surviving at sea and enduring in P.O.W. camps run by sadistic guards, it's a story that is incredible and very well written.

Laura Hillenbrand writes with the same amazing style that she did in Seabiscuit. She has a knack for telling these stories in fresh compelling ways.

Books - 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' by Stieg Larsson

I came to this one later than everyone else, so all the hype might have swayed me a bit. I liked the story. They mystery was interesting and engaging. I really like the character Lisbeth Salander (said girl with tattoo). There is a total 'Mary Sue' moment that happens with our 2 main characters that totally yanked me out of the book and felt completely unbelievable. I had a hard time recovering after that, but I did finish it. I might or might not read the two sequels. We'll see. I've read worse, but I've read better
